Rooted in its smart collections and diverse spatial advantages, the Sea Wisdom Learning Center aims to cultivate "Elegant Yingcai Individuals" by serving students across the kindergarten, primary, middle, and high school sections. It focuses on developing "Library Literacy · Reading Literacy · Information Literacy" for both teachers and students. Through a series of reading courses, themed activities, and lecture forums featuring distinguished experts, the Center deepens the foundation of scholarly culture, broadens intellectual horizons, fosters lifelong reading habits, nurtures humanistic character, and consolidates the foundation for lifelong development.
Xiamen Yingcai School has launched the **Integrated Reading Curriculum** committed to cultivating Elegant Yingcai Individuals. Covering kindergarten, primary, junior high and senior high school, the curriculum is based on the rich collection and smart facilities of the Sea Wisdom Learning Center. It systematically builds a three-tier progressive system encompassing **library literacy, reading literacy and information literacy**.
**Library Literacy Courses**
Starting with learning about library layout and borrowing etiquette, students gradually master classification and retrieval skills. They will eventually be able to fully utilize on-campus and off-campus resources and independently use knowledge spaces, laying a solid foundation for lifelong learning.
The courses begin with inspiring interest in whole-book reading and teaching diverse reading strategies. Students then move on to in-depth study of classic works, critical thinking and creative expression. Whole-book reading is cultivated into an academic lifestyle that enriches students’ humanistic attainment.
Students first get to know digital resources and retrieval tools. They progress to independently defining problems, designing search strategies, and evaluating and integrating diverse information sources. Ultimately, they develop rigorous academic research attitudes and a strong sense of responsibility in the digital era.
The three modules connect closely and advance in a spiral manner. Supported by a team of professional librarians and smart service systems, the library works closely with all departments on interdisciplinary teaching, empowering students to sustainably develop lifelong learning capabilities and higher-order thinking.
